Welcome! This page will help you get started on your Children’s Summer Reading adventure at the Kansas City Public Library. If you are a child (12 & under) or the parent of a child, you’re in the right place to register online for the Summer Reading Program. Click Sign Up Now to create a profile and start your Reading Log or you can also sign up in person at any Library location.

If you are a teen (ages 13-18) or the parent of a teen, please visit the Teen Summer Reading page to find out how to participate in the teen program, “You Are Here.”

Children's Summer Reading

  1. For every 3 hours you read, pick up a reward at your library plus enter your name in drawings for additional prizes.
  2. When you have read for 12 hours, you have officially completed the program. This means that you’ve earned a book and Royals tickets (while supplies last)!
  3. Keep reading and keep entering your name in drawings all summer long!

Your Kansas City Public Library is full of many stories that will inspire you to discover the world. AND we have terrific events (pdf) going on all summer! Take a look at the suggested books for some new ideas. Explore the program listings (pdf) to find great happenings. The library is the place to be this summer.
